An der Nebenstraße / At the byroad
Close to the medieval trading route between Wismar and Lübeck, on a part that today is a remote single track byroad, a merchant from Wismar was waylaid and murdered in the year 1391 A.D.. At the spot a rememberance stone was put up afterwards. If it was part of a sentence and fine imposed on the robbers or done by the family of the victim is unclear. The stone is still there.

Am Ende der Straße / At the end of the street
Als ich gestern in der Stadt unterwegs war schaute ich im Vorbeigehen die Straße „Neustadt“ hinunter (direkt an der Westseite der Heilig-Geist-Kirche aus dem 14. Jahrhundert) und sah am Straßende die weißen Aufbauten eines Kreuzfahrtschiffs unten am Hafen (ganz hinten im Bild auszumachen). – Als ich die Lokalnachrichten durchsah durfte ich feststellen, dass tatsächlich gestern der erste Anlauf dieses Jahres stattgefunden hat. Die „MS Europa“ war, mit einhundert Passagieren, unterwegs … was immer man davon auch halten will … – Überhaupt ist die Stadt bemerkenswert voll von Touristen.
While on my way in town yesterday I looked down the street „Neustadt“ (right beside the western end of the Church of the Holy Spirit, dating back to the early 14th. century, on the right side of the pic) and spotted the white structure of the upper decks of a cruiseliner down at the harbour (at the far end of the street). – Checking lokal news I found that, yes, there really was, for the first time this year, a cruiseship in port … with 100 passengers … make of it what you will …
